Question about 20s-30's COB Ludwig "Super" - Strainers Last viewed: 24 minutes ago

Greetings members :

I need some help identifying strainers that are installed on a vintage (1920s ? 30s) heavy brass shell ?Super? - super sensitive snare drum. It is my understanding that Ludwig only made two different types of strainers for these snares ? the 1920?s ? 1968 version and the 1968 ? present version. Please correct me on this if I am wrong about this.

Can any of you Ludwig experts out there take a look at the strainers in the pics (in the link below) and let me know which ones (what era of manufacture) they are ? The Puresound wires that are installed are correct for the strainers ? they are 12 strand wires with the triangular shaped ?winged? ends - model # PS-1412. I?m assuming that the strainers are the older (1920s ? 1968) version, but would like to know for sure, from someone who can tell the difference.

If anyone is interested in trading a vintage 50s? or 60?s Ludwig or Slingerland snare for this Ludwig please contact me by email (klynch11@hotmail) or reply to this post or send a Personal Message to my username ? Montravibman. I would seriously consider any Buddy Rich models - Ludwig Classics, Radio King, Artist - 8 or 10 lug, WMP, red or blue sparkle finishes.

Thanks.

Looks like the pat. 1924-1968 version to me...all the parts should interchange nicely...and just to make it clear:"This was the first "Super Sensitive" model snare produced by Ludwig - then called the "Super". should read: "This was the first "Super Sensitive" model snare produced by Ludwig - then called the "Super-Sensitive". The Super-Sensitives from 1929-36 had a top (Sensitive) and bottom (Super) mechanism...Later Ludwigs (1960s-present) with the bottom parallel (Super) mechanism were re-named Super-Sensitive models...

Wouldn't the nylon / plastic parts indicate the later version?

Not really sure, but all the other parts look like the 1924-1968 stuff...
