Premier Experts Wanted! Set ID. Solve the mystery once and for all!
My sincerest thanks for taking the time to post those pictures. Bet there aren't too many '75 Soundwaves between Rochester NY and Lancaster PA! Thanks for helping solve the mystery. While I knew Premier was a very respected name in drums, I have to be honest I was a bit novice at the time I made the purchase and was not aware of their value. I am very pleased to have such a nice set in our stock of 3 drumsets. I cannot zoom in on that catalog picture. Can you tell me which snare was advertised with the set? It would be on my hit list. Also, what is the official name/color of the wrap? And lastly, is it still a '75 if it came with Trilok hardware? An original catalog would be a nice addition to the drum set.....
A nice touch (if I can presume it's a Premier factory issue), where can I get 2 more of these nice leather washers?
the snare from the catalog looks like this one. Same small badge and hi-fi? strainer http://www.ebay.com/itm/380746131467?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
Alternatively you could look for a Premier '35' snare from this era. They are fantastic. 10 lug aluminium and a straight copy of a Supra but usually much cheaper.
I had totally forgotten about those leather washers until you posted this. That takes me back about 40 years! That made for a fun little mental journey.
My guess is they will be very hard to find but pretty easy to make if you are wanting this to be completely period correct. Otherwise, there are far better methods for mounting and protecting cymbals.
Very proud owner of a new Blaemire Snare 6.5 x 14 made by Jerry Jenkins "Drumjinx"
So, for historical accuracy, the final word is that this set is a 1975 Premier Soundwave with Trilok Hardware. Maple 3 ply shells with re-rings, covered in white duroplastic wrap and would have been sold with a mid 70's era 5 X 14 inch Premier HiFi 10 lug chrome snare. If you guys concur, I will place this information with the drum set so my daughter has an accurate record of her drums.
I'll also keep an eye for a 75 catalog and a correct matching snare. When I can do a shoot with a suitable back drop, I'll add this one to the gallery---don't see many others like it.....D' Drummer

Andrew, thanks for the scoop on the correct snare. Do you think the Premier expert guys on VDF have a 75 catalog they might want to sell? Best to ask on WTB?band3

Shells are not maple...they are either Finnish Beech or Birch (I always get those two mixed up!)...the re-rings are the opposite of what I just posted for shell interior....beech or birch..
Someone will know shortly on here....watch....
