Missed buy price by $5...

Please do not take offense sir. You stand to make a huge profit on this drum. It is with proper care one of the best sounding snare drums ever made.

Wish you the best on whatever you decide to do.

Nothing special here but I like them.

Well right now I am going to use the 3 in 1 oil and clean it a little bit. I am going to find some calf heads with a wood ring and use it every blue moon and then use it as a show piece. Maybe build a little stand for it? I am not sure on that yet.

I will probably make another thread when choosing the heads comes. As much as I want to give my full attention to it right now I just have a lot on my plate.

I just tried a little spot with the 3 in 1 and it shines up....it looks really good. The engraving REALLY stands out with the brass color.

Be careful with those clips. They are fragile. I wonder if they make copper reproductions for playing. I bought nob clips for my Luddy 4x14 and put the originals away for safe keeping.

What does that mean? You'll have to forgive me, I am basically a brick wall with this stuff.

I try to be pretty concise with my words.....

Please read it again...think about it.....

PS..Monroe is the N.E./N.W. dividing street..

So,if Knapps Drum Shop was across Monroe street...they would be N.E.......not N.W....

Yea, I already took the bottom head off. I think it had other heads on it at one point. There is light blemishes around the lip...I am just undecided if I am using it or not. It sounded pretty good. I think I am going to track down some heads that won't screw it all up and go with that. Either way, I think I did pretty decent for $45 ;)

Sounds "pretty good"?

As someone said..1 of the best sounding snares ever PERIOD!

Okay so I read what you said earlier again and it makes sense. However, what you just said now confuses me.

So if they were N.E. and not N.W. that would mean the head could be fake possibly or just a mix-up? The head unquestionably is N.W. I myself have quite a odd address that isn't even to the road I live on.

I don't go to grand rapids much besides on business and I've never been downtown.

When I got the top head back on I just sat there and did rolls for a good amount of time. It was just pleasing to hear again and again.

So, it sounds very good. I still like my 58 wfl red one better overall though, but that is my favorite drum. That might change when I get the right heads for this one though.

Then again I am 21 so it isn't like I've got to hear a ton of snares in my limited time.

It looks like an L&L 1925-28 +/- 12 pt. floral engraved 5x14 DeLuxe...probably one of the most common of the DeLuxes with the 4x14 being scarcer and the 6.5x14 the rarest. I think 4K is too much, more like 2500-3500.

If you plan on cleaning the drum I would use 3-in-one oil or lemon oil.

If you plan on playing the drum I would put modern day heads and PureSound wires.

Just my opinions...

Beautiful drum...incredible score...congrats! I would not want to be gigging with this drum. You're almost mandated to change the heads and wires (and of course saving the original stuff) and find out what this baby can do...but only in the safe confines of your studio or practice room. Too many bad things can happen on the road, on the gig, in your trunk, in a van, pulling it in and out of a case...you get the idea. I may be going out on a limb here, but this snare drum may be the rarest and most valuable drum you will ever own! Why take a chance? Clean it up as suggested, change the heads and wires if you must, and let it be the cornerstone of your collection. Just my humble opinion. Good luck whatever you choose to do.
