Pair of old drums in less than perfect shape

I wonder what he'd do with a drum that was played in the Roman Coliseum when Nemo officiated the Gladiatorial contests? That piece of "junk"would probably fetch at least $300 after it's made into an umbrella stand.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Butterbone,

I know...I know...It's your drum and you may do what you like with it.

Please, do NOT take an interest in "repurposing" vintage autos also. Especially, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Cobra, Chevy Nomad, Camaro Z28, or Ford Thunderbird.

But, then, if you're willing to hack-up a solid vintage Ludwig drum (one with interested potential buyers)...well....

I cried like a baby when i read what he did to those violins. rether they were a hundred years or a day old....you just dont do music intruments that way. Very sad that he dont even have a clue of what he could of got from one of those old vi`s if he would of invested the 200$ , he could of very well walked away with 20,000 maybe more.

All i can say more is.....this guy makes me sick and i hope like hell he never comes back here again!

I pray he puts that luddy on ebay and it ends up in one of our hands and the other drum too.

Stay Wiggly,

The bottom line is,this guy thinks he knows better than all of us,and once he decides that something is a piece of junk, then making a lamp or umbrella stand out of it,is justified. He's not in least concerned about the true value of vintage instruments, nor concerned by the fact of how they sound differently than modern stuff does.

The bottom line here is ...money.If he can mutilate something (and somehow call that repurposing),to a state it was never designed or built for, just to make a buck, then he feels justified in doing so.After all, what do we know about vintage drums....they're just .....old junk. There is no artistic value in what he does, and to hide behind that moniker,is mearly self decieving.Lets all hope we get to that yard sale before guys like him,who would rather destroy history, than to preserve it.BTW,Jesus didn't walk around raising the dead,so I don't know where you got that one from.Maybe one of the books you turned into a lamp stand.

What I am grateful to Butterbone for is, you reminding us on this forum, that there are guys like you out there, which makes us all that more determined to keep our vintage drums out of your hands.

I mean, really, what kind of market is there out there for old instruments converted into lamps? Or am I missing something?

"Drums are surprisingly easy to use as a furniture piece. For example, small drums can be used as shelves in the children’s room. All you have to do is find a way to fix them on the wall (you could use brackets, screws and a drill)."

This is getting more depressing all the time-i don`t even want to try to understand what lengths some people will go thro` just to make the almighty buck, but to be rubbing it in- right in our own forum`s backyard.Nothing like pouring salt into an open wound! My last comment here- i hope this becomes a"DEAD THREAD" sooner than later.

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..
