From Purdie Shuffle

Let me try this one again...Weren't -all- the 6.5" x 14" Acro snare drums (from that time) made for the, New York City Board of Ed.? I always thought that was the story on 6.5 acros from the 60's and 70's.John

that is my understanding as well mr fiberglass..

Hey Mike, those drums are so rare and expensive, I was just surprised nobody mentioned what it was. Thanks for confirming it for me. I always 'thought' that was the case.

> mr fiberglass..

LOL don't you know it!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Well, let's not get excited here... let's not run out to the street naked shouting nonsense about 'Captain Billy's Whiz Bang'. Take it from me, the neighbors just don't understand.

That is really a great drum!

Mike, your badge is the same as mine but since mine is a 6 1/2" the badge is not up as high as yours. Mine has the blue Ludalloy sticker inside the shell. Wish I knew more about it. The chrome is still pretty good. My previous pic is before I cleaned it up. It cleaned up nice and shiny. Here is a pic with one of my Acrolite's. from what I remember, and I don't think they offer them anymore, but they made a Chrome over steel with Bowtie lugs in recent years that looked exactly like ours, steel snares were not that expensive compared to the aluminum snares. $150 compared to $500 or more.

youre right about those steel drums. they were import shells though. whereas the acro and supras both have the same seamless shell.

that sticker is cool! I just sold a b/o badge 6.5 402 supra on another forum. it had the sticker inside and was in great shape, better than the shell! which it wasn't as bad as some are though..
