new ludwig legacy with or without internal tone controls

Hey everyone,

Next week I'm going to order my new Ludwig legacy kit (14,16,18,26).

But I'm still hesitating if I should order them (tom and floors) with or without internal tone controls, because of the "ratling horror" I have read about.

Will it influence the shell reso (sound) and overall sound of the drum?

I almost never use muffling, because i like that sound of Buddy Rich, Ian Paice, John Bonham, ...

What are your opinions?

There are better methods to damp a drum head, I'd leave the toms 'virgin'.

Bermuda is probably right, but part of the reason I like my vintage drums is because they have these weird things like internal mufflers. It colours the sound. I love them. And I use them!!! Yep they work for me.

If you want modern buy modern. If your buying Legacy's to be new "vintage", I would buy them with it all in. Otherwise what are you doing?

Either way you will have great drums.
