I am still trying to decide what to do with this 60's club date bass drum. It is in nice shape except that one spot on the shell where someone got some type chemical on it and really messed up the wrap in that spot by the cymbal mount.
I repaired and painted the bass drum hoop on there, and just got the rest of the hardware to complete it except a rail mount, which I would not use anyway. I have another 20" hoop but it is not a correct Ludwig hoop. It will work for now.
I also have a classic 8"x12" Ludwig Tom that is a very close gold sparkle match.
It was a extra drum I got with my 1958 Ludwig classics but not as Orange as the original kit but close enough the layman doesn't notice on stage. I also have some nice vintage silver sparkle drums I can mix and match for all kind of different set ups, but don't have a 20" bass drum. Should I just leave the drum alone and complete and play it as is with the 8"x12"Tom and I guess I could use my older 16"x16" gold sparkle floor tom, or rewrap it in Silver sparkle. Or complete the reso side with claws and T-rods and sell it ?
