My New Leedy Acquisition.....Info help Pleae Last viewed: 4 hours ago

The OP drums were Chicago era Leedy (Slingerland), dated 1965. They have nothing to do with Gretsch, or sloppiness. What Gretsch did after 1980 with left over parts, or present day ebay is another topic altogether.

Love those Late 50s to Mid 60s Slinger-Leedy drums. Very nice, indeed.

I'm at a loss to understand the issue here. Is someone upset that Fred Gretsch owns inventories of old Slingerland and Leedy parts, and maybe even some complete drums? if that's a contentious issue, please explain to me what the problem is, and what you think Fred should do with the stuff. I would love to be able to rummage through the Slingy and Leedy treasures. If my wife and I ever follow through on our desire to vacation in Savannah, I'll contact Fred in advance to ask if that would be possible.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I think that the snare drum is a three ply because the innermost ply is unpainted mahogany. I'm taking it to a good friend to have him help me set up the Radio King snare strainer. He's more knowledgeable than I. He'll let me know if it's solid or three ply.

Thanks for the nice words.

Very nice! I see the photo op is at the same or near where you took that photo of your BLUE ICE GLITTER Walberg&Auge kit. Don't mean to take attention away from your beautiful kit here but when I saw the photo it took me back to that W&A kit of yours - what a beauty it is.

I like your bd reso head on this kit....nice tribute.

On the other note: I too do not have a problem with Mr. Gretsch selling drums and drum parts. It's folks like us that buy them we are usually very happy when we see what we want or what we're looking for on sale on the web.

I have no problem I get a lot of Leedy parts when I need them from him. but what I mention is he has a lot of parts and drums that releases them every so offend on ebay. I to would like to rummage through his ware house but he does not allow.

a-dub - I would also like that info please.

Not trying to hijack you hear leedy.....hope you find this all good...and I'm liking the thread.

Long story short: I communicated with Fred Gretsch a few years ago regarding some old Gretsch drums I have. He wrote me a nice hand-written post card and said for the wife and I to be sure and look him up in Savannah. I'm looking foreward to it.

Maybe all of us....Forum Gretsch enthusiasts....should rent a large buss or two and road trip to Mr. Gretsch's place.....just kidding but that thought ran through my head here...haha. He might get a restraining order....

Sincerely,
