Despite what I thought was rigorous vetting of a rare and expensive product being sold on eBay, what does one do when that product shows up after purchase and delivery, and is not what was advertised? Beyond the obvious eBay admin stuff?
Thanks

In many cases a simple (and polite) message to the seller can resolve the problem.
Many sellers use the eBay automated return program. Check to see if your seller accepts returns.
Lastly, a few clicks of the mouse will start an eBay "Resolve a problem" session on eBay.
I would start with the polite and short message to the seller.
good advice from kapperdog. I wouldn't worry too much over it. ebay will make it right. there is a lot of protection for buyers on ebay..

I have had very good experiences of two cases similar to yours. KapperDog's advice is spot on.

I agree. Use the eBay resolution process.
Ebay is very pro-buyer...so if your talks with the seller break down, file your claim, then they will ding the money from the seller's acct. (even though the seller may be correct), the seller is guilty until he/she proves different or you are in the right and your claim stands...

You posted here before contacting the seller first?
Thanks for the advice. I'll see how it plays out.
No, I opened the case through eBay admin process, but hadn't heard from the buyer. Not having been through this before, I wanted to hear from someone that had to see what my chances were of getting this resolved.
