Anyone hear the story of how Mel Torme in a trubute to Gene Krupa had one of Krupa's drum sets on stage and Torme did a trubute to him? I heard the drums were looking a little old,tired,and faded, so Torme had all the hardware removed and put on new drums to do the tribute. Why didn't he just have them professionally rewraped with the same hardware? I think I had much rather have the original shells than the hardware. Has anyone else heard this?
