Massive used drum buy at sam ash ontario mills, calif. Last viewed: 18 hours ago

Loading...

only some of what i seen so far are actually vintage drums, but these are some killer deals, so i listed everything i seen anyway.

for those here in so-cal, i was just at the sam ash at ontario mills (roughly a hour from hollywood) and they just got a ton (and i do mean a ton) of used drums, stands, cases, pedals, cymbals, some road cases with mixers, speakers, gongs and other road worthy items.

unfortunately a fellow drummer passed away. the widow sold a box truck loaded with gear to this sam ash store and its seriously priced low to go.

if any of you has seen what a actual backline company has in stock, this guy's gear would match that.

here's a rough list of what's there now. from what i seen so far, it all looked like top of the line stuff. they did say there's more in the wherehouse to be pulled out.

this is seriously worth checking into. they wouldn't let me see what's in the wherehouse, but i have a feeling its the other half of the truck load.

----------------------

- approx 8-10 yamaha drum kits in various sizes...and all are yellow. i believe these to be 80's/90's maple kits and overall in clean condition.

- what looked to be a more modern natural blonde color yamaha dbl bass kit with gold hdwr with gig bags.

now that yamaha has discontinued alot of stuff, now would be the time to get some serious yammy deals.

- a 8 pc 70's red acrylic ludwig dbl bass kit in i believe: 12,13,14 (concert toms) 16, 18 and 2, 26" kicks. possibly 2, 24's but it wasn't in full view at the time. i was quoted $800. i'm serious on this.

- what looked to be a 80's 6-7 pc slingerland kit in a red satin stain. had some wear but still a deal to check into.

- ALOT of yamaha cymbal stands.

- ALOT of dw pedals and hh stands. 5000 and 9000

- gibraltar drum racks (front tube and 2 legs) around $69.

- humes and burg hdwr cases

- ALOT of zildjian platinum cymbals (blue label and black label) from splashes to chinas, and almost all in very clean condition. there's also a decent amount of regular A series too.

- i spotted 3 brass 6 1/2x14 yamaha snares.

- what looked like a 80's slingerland 6 1/2x14 brass snare.

and even more to be put out soon so check into it.

It should not be too hard to figure out who these once belonged to. Yellow Yamaha double bass kits with Platinum cymbals. Mikey probably knows off the top of his head...

I went there today and let me tell you it's huge. Slingerland are Magnum series, Yamaha kits are Rock Tour Customs and there approx. 35-40 kits in yellow, blue and red. All kinds of hardware, Yamaha snare stands for $20.00 bucks! The blonde kit Drummerfish is referring to is a Tommy Aldridge Model, 3 rack toms, 2 floor, 2 kicks and snare for $1700.00. Gold plated? hardware on drums. Ludwig Vistalites, 2-26" bass, concert toms and 18 and 20 floor toms. No mounting hardware for toms and no spurs-$800.00. I bought about 400 worth of heads, misc. stuff and some hardware.

THE BLUE AND RED KITS AREN'T OUT ON THE FLOOR YET! I GOT A SNEAK PEEK AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD BE OUT THERE NEXT WEEK

If you are in So. Cal, it's worth the look. Lots of cases, Enduro hard plastic cases for $50.00

At least 40-50 cymbals. All Zildjian Platinum, some blue lettered, some black lettered. 20 inch light ride for 110.00 bucks!!

GREAT DEALS on some slightly used stuff. All this was in a wherehouse for a while. Yamaha kits need cleaning. The Tommy Aldridge kit is awesome!!

looks like the fellow drummer was pat collins.

in all my years of working at music stores, being a drum tech, doing drum repairs, selling stuff and working at a drum company, i'm never heard of the guy or the band.

the following only mentions his passing.

All different sizes.....mostly Rock toms too. The steal is the Tommy Aldridge kit with gold hardware.

I have to believe Pat Collins, either with or without the band Eclipse, had a higher profile than the bar/ casino band in the video. That is a SH!7load of equipment, and much of it high-end, with pro-style cases and such. The drums and hardware and cymbals are the last part-the epilog shall we say. This man could have been any one of us- who was Pat Collins?

I just E-mailed the booking agent responsible for Eclipse with a request for info on the man behind the drums...

I just got back after augmenting my selection of Yamaha hardware. I may have cleared out all of the single-braced short booms, but there are many double-braced stands, most for $19.99 and really heavy-duty ones for $39.99. There are also lots of snare stands and a few pieces of DW gear (mostly HH stands).

I didn't measure the yellow Yamahas, but there was at least one 8" tom. Most of the rest were in the 12"-13"-14" neighborhood, plus some 16" FTs (I think). I'm guessing that most, if not all, of the bass drums are 24", just because there was a stack of black Yamaha logo heads in that size.

It's worth a look. If you have questions, the number of that store is (909) 484-3550.

Just got back from Ontario with the huge red Vistalite set! Thanks Fish for the tip. Thanks to Back Beat keeper too for providing a lot of info about the condition of the kit. Its a 9x13,10x14,12x15,14x16 All concert

plus 16x18,18x20 Floor toms and two 16x26 4 legged bass drums

One its a virgin the other one has the bracket for the double tom mount. A 16x26 bass drum? Custom order maybe? I always thought they were 14x26 only...Any thoughts?

All B/O pointy corner badges. No cracks on any of the shells. Pretty decent all around condition. Ill try to load some pixs soon.
