Ludwigs.

To start, I am a newbie,....and a bass player. I have today repatriated the Ludwig set pictured below. On the forum ID section, looks like 1951 catalogue. But a small stamp inside the shells says 1961.

Can anyone help ?

The stamp is correct,...

You seem to have an early 60's Ludwig Club Date combo in blue-silver Duco finish.

What is the likelyhood that I would ever find a matching floor tom ?

Depends,Floor toms are out there, you have a club date kit, with the double ended lugs, that kit was sold as a 3 pc like you have, and was offered as a 4 pc with a floor tom,I think they were catalogued with a 14 ft,and a 15 also, but you could also get a surer classic(single lugs at each end) in those sizes and finish.

The 14 fts go for a lot more than the 16's,and the 15 fts are super rare,so a 16 would probably be most common and least expensive, but they are out there.

Great little kit you have there, what are the sizes?

Notice, esteemed colleagues, that it is a SINGLE tension bass and a hoop mount tom.I owned an earlier version of that bass drum and it was the best bass drum I ever owned-but I believe Club Dates are single lug, double tension.Correct me if I'm mistakenBurger Kin

Just got them back. Thanks to Tim B in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia for the restoration. Still looking for a matching floor tom.

Cool kit, man! Not gonna lie...finding a matching floor tom might take a while and/or be expensive, but don't give up! One will come your way at the right price someday. You might want to throw up a post in the Wanted section. I'm the mean time...enjoy your sweet tubs!
