Ludwig road trip

Came home with these, just finished unloading them. Looks like they will clean up nice. The floor looks like a 3 ply not sure about the rest. Granitone interiors.

They look pretty great now. Really nice score. By the way, you could probably suspend your bass player from that stage left boom stand.

Tom - See? you missed out on that last deal but then you scored these! Nice kit. If those are the Ludwig 6-ply maple shells, you're in for a real treat when you play them. Those drums sing!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I just started doing a little research on this kit. The serial numbers put these at 75/76. I have not taken them apart yet, however the floor tom looks like mahogany/poplar/mahogany. Can anyone tell me when Ludwig stopped with the 3 ply and go to the six?

OK, 6 ply has no rings (DUH! geez... I should have known that! That makes these 3 ply. The kit is a Ludwig Rock Duo 1975/76. 2-14"x22" - 9"x13"- 10"x14" 16"x16" with a 400 Supra. And yes you could hang whatever you want on that boom stand! LoLoLoLo. Can anyone recommend the best "stuff" to clean/polish this white cortex? Thank in advance. Tommy

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Three ply Ludwigs are kind of the heart of the Ludwig Vintage vibe. Those will be great. Use Novus 2 to remove light scratches and Novus 1 to polish. If there are heavier scratches you might need to start with #3.

I bought a 22-13-16 black cortex kit for a couple hundred two years ago. They were REALLY dusty, dirty and scratched. I stripped the hardware off the shells. Wiped them down with a wet, soft cloth, used Novus 3 on the heaviest scratches, Novus 2 on the entire shell and finished with Novus 1. They look pretty much brand new now.

I am starting to like the look of white cortex. The lugs and hoops have cleaned up really nice! The only hardware left to do is the other bass drum. I need white inlays for the bass drums, can anyone tell me a good place to start looking? Thanks, Tommy. Oh yea, here are a few progress pics.

That is a really great start. Those shells seem to have cleaned up really well.
