From DRUMR69

I think I might of added to the confusion but I think the Jazz Fest is all correct. It is the WFL that they are talking about in which I ask to see pictures of also. 2 different snares.Wayne

Yes, its the WFL I posted a little later in the thread that has the chrome muffler. Sorry for the confusion!

Aha! I deleted my post to nip in the bud.

Agree that muffler on the WFL perhaps added post-factory.

The condition of that Jazz Festival is kind of insane. When looking at the photos I could have sworn I was looking at pictures from the NAMM Show of Ludwig FINALLY having reissued the snare model that many of us would like to see them reissue. Also, not incidentally, the P-83 strainer, which they would sell at least 3 of instantly, to me.

I'm in the camp that says you will be surprised once you have the Jazz Festival appraised. Please tell us once you do. I can't even begin to imagine in that condition.

I'd keep the WFL as a player. I have the '59 version of it, well the Swingster/Barrett Deems version, and it's one of my two favorite snares, along with my Acrolite, a "pry it from my cold dead hands" kind of instrument.

I got mine in somewhat cosmetically distressed condition for $80 because, y'know, Ringo played a Jazz Festival, NOT a Swingster or Barrett Deems. And what is a "WFL" drum anyway? Marching band from that old football league from the '70's?

Yeah, it is kinda crazy how nice the '63 is, which is why I think Im going to sell it. Ill never play it for fear of degrading it, so it'll just sit in my basement, which is no good. Im not sure what to ask for it or exactly how Ill go about selling it. I guess eBay or Reverb.com? If anyone has a good suggestion for what I should ask, I'd greatly appreciate it.

ebay; I don't do reverb. Take photos with at least 1 hoop/head removed since the wrap could have darkened/faded (yes, it's possible). Make sure pics are clear & note any defects.

Yeah yeah yeah ... I know, everyone posting thinks it just came off the presses. I'd want to see everything, heads included.

And good luck! It looks like a great snare,

Chris

Is it just me, or do those internal screws look like nothing Ludwig used in the 60's?
