Is this a Jazz Festival snare?

Loading...

Hey guys! I recently got a few Ludwig black diamond pearl snares from a buddy of mine. One is what looks like a 50s WFL, but its the other one Im curious about. The box it came in says 1963 BDP Jazz Festival. It looks almost brand new, which at first glance made me wonder if it was some modern reissue model. The serial number reads 3225. My buddy is a bass player and inherited these drums, so he knows nothing about them. Any info would be appreciated! Here's some pix:

Certainly looks like it is exactly what the box says it is. If so, that is a fairly valuable piece of drum equipment given its condition and the fact that you still have the box. Nice find!

The box isn't the original. (I wish)

Beautiful drum! if it has 8 lugs, it's a Jazz Festival. And if it has 6 lugs. it's a Pioneer. Do you see any date stamp inside the shell?

Yup, its 8 lugs. I looked but cant find a stamp. Im assuming the hoops are COB since my magnet won't stick?

That is a beauty.

Looks like it never came out of the box.

Those wires and throw look brand new. Amazing

There's a keeper bet it sounds great

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Great find in excellent shape !

I love the look of the BDP Jazz Festival.

And such a low serial number . . . . 3225

Good luck with it, if your looking to sell, I'm looking to buy if Rotarded doesn't grab it up first.
