Hi, I just acquired these rims for a project snare I'm working on. According to the seller they are Leedy "Knobby Gold". Is this correct?, and how should they be cleaned?

Looks like Leedy...there should be a Leedy Indianapolis or Leedy Elkhart stamp on the top rim...Looks kind of like Nobby Gold or at least faded (old lacquer) Nooby Gold...simple cleaning with 3-in-one oil or lemon oil will brighten things up...restoring the NG is another story involving stripping the old/dead lacquer off down to the original copper plating, polishing and re-gold-lacquering the rims...Nobby Gold is trickier than L&L ArtGold so you need to see what the other hardware looks like vs. your newly acquired rims...hope that helps.

Thanks for you reply. I can not find any stamps on the rims. Does this mean they are not Leedy's? Is there any other way to identify them? I have enclosed a closeup that shows the remains of the Gold lacquer.
Thanks,
Havard
Later Leedy hoops had no identification...
I concur...later rims it is...so technically not the right rims for your 1920s-30s Leedy but they will still work until you find the correct era rims...
