Is Paypal secure? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

From ec_curtis

Tonight I was told by the buyer of my FT that he called paypal to see about what was covered. He said they told him that he was only covered if there was in invoice sent. I didn't look into it at all and the buyer was not a VDF member so I understood he wanted to be safe and didn't know me from Adam. Does anyone know? Does that sound right? I thought as long as I didn't use the "gift" option I was covered.Curtis

Yes that is what I told you to do, just make out a paypal invoice and send it to him, He is covered under the buyers protection

Curtis, this guy just bought a blue vista kit from me and asked if I had ever done business with you. I told him I had, smooth transaction, a couple actually I think. Not sure what his concern is and Paypal has certainly helped me, even with no invoice being sent.

Gary I appreciate that. I get that people want to be careful. Makes me feel good about dealing with the VDF folks here because there really is a level of comfort that is good.

Mark yes I did do as you said and it worked out great. Thanks again.

The question I'm still trying to confirm is are we not covered unless a invoice is exchanged?

Thanks

Curtis

I have made literally hundreds of transactions with paypal.

Mostly as a buyer.

I have filed claims and had my money returned to me a few times.

Almost none of my transactions have used an invoice.

I have no fear with paypal.

It is my preferred method.

Agree that PayPal is secure. Just remember, never do the 'gift' thing. Not only do you lose your protection, but you're cheating PayPal. I don't expect them to cheat me, so I treat them in kind.Good luck.

I feel ebay (Paypal) DOES try and cheat me by charging a fee on shipping....

Your thoughts?

it isn't paypal it is ebay that is taking the fee out of our shipping charge, it is 4% but yes It is a rip off as I make no money on my shipping, and supplies are not cheap.
