Is $600 too much for... Last viewed: 7 seconds ago

Hello,

I want to get into the vintage drum world and I have found a '66 Ludwig bass drum and floor tom on eBay. They are in fairly good condition and would give me a restoration project which is good :) the bass drum comes with a speed king pedal and a cymbal. Is $600 too much to pay excluding postage? I believe they are 3 ply with a keystone badge.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I thought I should get some feedback first.

Thanks,

Seb

Photos needed, we're not psychic. You'll get a much more accurate appraisal with some photos. Off the top, $600. sounds like way too much for an incomplete project kit. Again, need to see photos before anybody can say for sure.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Yes John is right photo's of the drums. But 600.00 for the two with-out shipping cost is on the high side of pricing....Mikey

Thanks all for your responses.

I am not having much luck in my quest for vintage drums :/ (see: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=34066 and http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=34078 and http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=34141 :/ )

Here are some photos straight off the ebay listing, but I might just wait until one of you wonderful people find some orphan you want to sell me :)

Thanks,

Seb

That appears to be half of a Ringo, 2nd kit, if it`s a 16" FT and 22" BD.

Now that people here know where to look,..it wont last long !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

You would need a 13" rack tom matched wrap and Supraphonic snare and then it`s mucho $$ !!

It looks in one photo to have the rack tom,...wonder why it`s not for sale ??

Yeah, that was silly pointing it out, but I would have rather some expert opinion before I shell out $600 on my first vintage kit. I'll ask the seller if there is a 13 tom and hopefully there is :)

Thanks for all your advice,

Seb

It may be the lighting, but those drums look like blue oyster pearl to me.The price is a little high.

Hi tamadrum,

The listing does say blue oyster pearl so this isn't a 'Ringo kit'. Since then, I have found Slingerland marching bass drum shell for $100 without any hardware. I can source hardware online for around $80. Would this be a good project kit to make a regular bass drum?

Thanks

People today complain that the new vintage remakes of Oyster Black Pearl has too much blue in it,..these look to have the vintage amount !!
