Imperial Star Snare, a few questions.

Both my King Beat and Imperialstar have die cast hoops which I think are awesome. My hoops don't flex.

Wow, that's crazy. Never seen diecast hoops flex like that. I'd definitely try out some different ones and see how the tuning and sound improve.

Currently playing for loud rock and roll gigs:
1982 Ludwig Classic in white Cortex, 24-13-14-18 + Coliseum snare
For quieter gigs:
Early '70s Whitehall Tiger Eye Pearl 20-12-14-14
Neglected but thinking about:
Early '70s Sonor Champions in Rosewood, 22-12-13-16

I think they are "diecast", not diecast, if you know what I mean.

If by that you mean that your hoops aren't die cast,I have to agree.Die cast hoops don't flex like that, infact 2.3mm triple flange hoops don't either.Tensioning the top(batter) head should have no effect on the reso side, unless your shell is damaged and the lugs actually move. This can happen if they aren't secured to the shell properly,or there is damage to the lugs.

How about some clear photos or video os youe drum without the heads on.

well, the hoops look exactly like the ones on the photo,

I have little reason to believe they are not stock.

the shell is solid and the lugs are properly secured to it, but when I took the batter head off, the resonant detuned quite a bit. I've noticed similar behavior

in some other cheap metal drums.

I have a pair of Tama Die cast hoops that are bent. All of the lugs are broke, snapped off or bent and stretched the nubs that go into the shell. This is how I bought it. In fact, I bought it for the lugs, the hoops were a bonus. I will find a way to straighten them out. I can only imagine what its been through.
