I still am looking for what make this BD is Last viewed: 1 hour ago

I bought this a few months ago and still no luck tracking down what brand it is.

It has calfhind heads my have come with the drum when new.

The wood appears to be Asian Mahogany - the shell is thin and flexible. I removed the tom holder and didn't put it back on. It would probably tear away from the shell with normal to heavy play. It looks like it's an after factory install - don't know for sure though. The lugs are hinged.

It does not look like a high quality wrap but it is very sparkley - intense reflection there.

Maybe it was a marching drum? There are no spur holes. I'm guessing 1950's or before?....only because of the Calfhide heads.

Thoughts?

Hi Kona!

Wow... you've got me stumped on this one! I concur about the shell being Asian Mahogany. You might try posting this on the Vintage Non-USA Drum section. Should be a few people who can help us out with this one!

I had a similar no-name MIJ bass drum that I was never able to identify either. Mine was a single-tension bass drum but also had calfskin heads and the claws and t-rod handles are the same as yours. Mine also had the fancy grommet like yours has. No one here was able to tell me the make on it. If you find out on yours...post it up! The bass drum is gone now, but it would still be nice to know.
