I found this rare Radio King

Look closely at the picture of the grommet - If you look at the inside of the grommet, you can see it's been messed with. Also, look at where the lugs meet the shell (picture w/the strainer) and you can clearly see a bit of white paint peeking out.

Might still be a cool old/new drum, but not at $600.00 and it's clearly not what the seller claims it is.

I'll agree with those statements...definately steer clear of this one. $100 tops!

The strainer is not properly centered between the lugs. Look at how the cord goes through the hoop slot way off center. I also vote for the cobbled up version.

Yes, and beyond that...I think they are a dishonest seller trying to con somebody....so another reason to stay away not just from the drum, but from the person....

From caello

Hi, I found this rare Radio king, the badge is from 1928 to 1941, but de finish doesn´t appear to be a slingerland finish of those years.Size it´s 14 x 7, 8 tube lugs.Is this really a Radio King snare? The guy is asking about $600Sorry for my english...

I wish I could see the shell under the snare head....

The finish looks like the solid maple shell. as does the strainer

Hi All, All you guys are right on this..Grommet has been off drum...rims are wrong[1960s] strainer is right.Ia'm not sure if the lugs are s/l they look like they are but ...Shell ia'm not sure if its a s/l if it is it's 3 ply with maple rings and outer ply...Finish has been removed from drum, look under lugs in photo looks like white paint under them...I would say 100.00 or so tops for the drum..Mikey

Back in the tube lug days of Slingerland, didn't they have straight hoops and clips?

And, there hasn't been a post on this thread since April 1st until yesterday..... probably a moot point by now.....:)
