Help with old cymbals, please!

Loading...

I have a pair of 14" Zildjian cymbals and a 16" Super Zyn. I don't know anything about them, but they appear in good shape. They haven't been cleaned, as I hear a lot of people don't want them cleaned. What can anyone tell me? Thanks, Lisa

what is the height of the trademark? if it's 1.25", it's likely from the late

1950's. that's my guress. if it's 1.75", my guess is wrong and it's from the mid 50's. it's not from the 60's because there are three dots missing from the signature. besides that, don't know what to tell you. if you've listened to the cymbals, you know more about them than what any picture can tell....

It's 1.25". I don't play so I don't know anything about them or how they should sound. That's why I came here for help.

Lisa, I'm by no means a Zildjian expert but it looks like the 14" inchers are a pretty well cared for set of high hats. More than likely nice sounding cymbals and very useable by anyone who is interested in vintage plates. The value of A Zildjians is not nearly as much as K Zildjians of that era. I wouldn't really hazzard a guess of what you could sell them for. Others around here may have an idea. The other cymbal I'm not familiar with at all. Jump in here guys and give this lady some assistance. I certainly appreciate you visiting this site and hope you get some help. If nobody here has more info for you try a site called cymbalholic.com. Good luck.

Zyn, 2 Star Zyn and 5 Star Super Zyn cymbals were made by Premier. I think they ran from the late 40's to the early 80's in various forms. (Needs confirming)

The Zyn and 2 Star Zyn weren't too much to write home about, but the 5 Star Super Zyn weren't bad cymbals.

sorry, don't know anything about Zyns. you can get a price idea these days by checking similar stuff that has sold on ebay. i looked up similar hats and found these that went for $125 plus $15 shipping a few days ago:

a couple selling tips: DON'T CLEAN THEM. get the weight in grams of each cymbal if possible- buyers in the know are often looking at weight if they can't hear the cymbal before buying.

good luck

I went to list these and remeasured. They are 13", what difference does that make now. There doesn't seem to be too many of them on eBay.
