OK, I know that wood-shell Dynasonics are commanding 2k+, but don't you think this price is a little extreme? It's listed on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/270839867639?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Thats cheap.
For that drum, in that color, in that condition.
yea.
cheap.
even in this economy.
Agreed, cheap. example show me another one like that ?
Even considering the Green Sparkle and condition, I was thinking about $3k. Thanks for clearing that up!
I agree the price is reasonable...right up there with a Mardi Gras Dyna as far as rarity goes...nice condition as well.
Just wondering.......What does one actually do with a $4000 snare drum? Is it purchased to play or to display or is it simply stored away somewhere with the hope that it will continue to increase in value through the years?
Here's something I ran across (not mine) that you wooden Dynasonic collectors might have an interest in:

A drum like that can easily be played...if it is taken care of I feel it would still hold it's value in the future...

OldSchool!...
Yes!... most certainly they can be played. MC is of course correct in that one would want to take excellent care of said drum.. ( but I would think that one would anyway as we all know the value of these 60's era wood Dynasonics ) For example:
I have two wood WMP Dynasonics, a 1967 and a 1968. I gig 99.9% of the time on the '67. The drum looks as good today as it did when it was born, save a bit of yellowing/fade of course, but that is to be expected, ESPECIALLY with WMP. No issues... no damage... 100's of gigs! Both these drums were worth $4000.00 EASY back when the economy was hittin' on all cylinders... not so sure that they have maintained their value quite that high today, but Green Sparkle is indeed much rarer for sure. A completely playable/giggable drum it is, and whomever may end up with it, hopefully it will be played!
Tommyp
I would play it. I dont have a single drum worth that much, but some do have worth. I play them. I would hit that.
I would also play the heck out of it, I had the chance 3 years ago to buy a green sparkle Rogers dayton set sizes 14x26,10x14, 16x16,16x18 i could have bought it for 1500.00 but just did not have the cash i wish i had bought it anyway it is only the second green sparkle 14x26 i have ever seen made by Rogers... Doh!
