For sale is a gorgeous factory matched Vintage 1965 Ludwig Club Date Set in Champagne Sparkle with chrome hardware. 20/14/12 and matching 6 lug Pioneer snare. Superb players condition. Minor scuffs on wrap and chrome here and there as well as minor oxidation in some areas. Minimal fade on wrap which is tight. Very slight seam lift on bass. All shells in-round and edges are spectacular, original shape. Bass hoops have been repainted. All shells date stamped in black with date of MAY 11, 1965 (bass is smudged so harder to read) except for the snare which is in red and reads MAY 8, 1965. I have never seen a set with almost all matching date stamps! These guys just turned 50 and looking great. Includes cymbal arm which may not be original or Ludwig. Snare stand shown not included.

Floor: 123621

Bass: 123622

You do know that nice club date kits sell all day on ebay for less than a grand. Just in case you weren't aware.;)

He did say OBO. :D But, by the looks and condition of this factory matched kit in Champagne Sparkle, I'd say it's not your typical "sell all day on ebay" kit.

Good luck with your sale. Those are some sharp looking drums.

Thanks for all the input guys! I believe that all things considered here, it is priced where it needs to be. I am negotiable on the price as stated as the or best offer. It's great to have a handle on the market and what comparables are selling for, but things that sell for certain prices all day on eBay may be the thing that is hurting the vintage drum market in the first place. The uniqueness of an item is lost in a wash of people selling low or not based on what they actually have in their possession.

I try to evaluate items as in-detail as I can and be as honest and transparent as possible. I am certain these will make the right person very happy.

Thanks again all!

Don't get me wrong, that's a beautiful kit, but most of the club dates I've seen selling, we're not bin, they were bid on, which means the seller was getting as much as the kit would bring in the open market. That's really the only way to evaluate what a kit is worth, what buyers are willing to pay, not how much the seller thinks it's worth.

In my opinion, I don't really consider ebay the true open market. Shipping can be a killer, which causes people to lowball bid and snipe at the last possible second. I watched a black beauty jump over $1,000 in the last 15 seconds of an auction for an ending price of around $2,100. If this was sold at a traditional auction, I'm sure it would have sold higher. Then there are all of the fees, which only hurt the seller.

It's cool that you are even offering free delivery to the Chi-town Drum Show.
