Favorite Ludwig finish?

Loading...

Okay guys, we all know it's the sound that matters...but let's face it, a cool finish can provide mojo. What are your two most favorite finishes? Doesn't have to be Ludwig, but I'll go ahead and use it for my picks.

1. Black oyster

2. Black Diamond Pearl

Own number 1...soon to own number 2. Both 60s.

Neither of those. I'm a huge fan of black and gold duco and the classic patriotic red, white (silver), blue tri-wrap. Wouldn't turn down a nice old 62 gold sparkle.

1. Pink Champagne (sometimes called sparkling pink champagne), offered in US catalogs from 1962–1976. I bought a new set in this finish in the early 70s and it's always been my favorite.

2. Black Oyster Pearl , 1960s version (first available in the 1960 catalog, and different from the "Bowling Ball" version available in the 1970s but also called Black Oyster Pearl). Just has that "Ringo" look and feel.

3. Natural Maple, available in the late 1970s through the 80s. To me, just a simple, "classy" look.

4. Red Sparkle / Sliver Sparkle / Blue Sparkle, available as a part of our nation's bi-centennial celebration in the mid 1970s. Produced when patriotism still meant something... but I like Slingerland's version better!

5. Blue Sparkle. Available for a LONG time, and one of Ludwig's biggest sellers. Like (3) above, simple and classy.

Just my :2Cents:
