I had one of these and they're very LA Camco-y. Very nice. Now think how many DW kits there are out there, how few there are of these really early ones and how comparatively little it's going for. And in even 10 years, how many DW players (or kids who couldn't afford DW when they were growing up but now have money) are going to want "vintage" DW....which this is.
Yep, early DW down the road will be extremely collectible. I have a 1979 LA Camco kit a la Elvin Jones vintage. It is a beauty. This DW snare would match up very nicely beside it so, if you don't jump on it now....singer just kidding no pressure...
Down the road it may command a respectable price.
I'm thinking buy and hold/enjoy playing on this one and you could easily double your money on this snare as those 20-30 year old DW players look for the early gems of their chosen line in 20 years or so.
Its obvious what the consensus here is.

hey thanks once again!
I confirmed the seller I buy it :-)
I agree with the fact that because it is an early DW one, it makes it more collectible.
by the way, the Camco kit I buy (see pics) has not anymore the original tension rods on the BD (the same they put on the DW Classic kits now).
I think I cannot buy DW T-Rods because of their own system that does not match regular camco turrets.
any idea where I could find original Camco T-Rods?
and floor tom legs by the same time... :-)

They come up for sale on ebay from time to time. Just type in, 'Camco' in their Search box, anything Camco that is up for sale will pop up.
Congrats on getting a set of some of the best sounding drums in the world. I've become a die-hard fan of the early Oaklawn drums. The drums just sing.
Best of luck finding the parts. You might want to ask, vintagedrumbug (Vinny) or Mikey777 here at the forum, they just might have the parts you're looking for. Worth a try.

Thanks John!
I already put an automatic search on ebay.
I will ask those two dudes you told me.
I've noticed that Camco worshipers have their preference concerning where/when their drumset has been made.
The LA era kits seem to be the less desirable ones but still great. True?
The kit I buy looks great and I guess will sing as I expect it :-)!
Have a nice week-end,
Charles
Hey
It seems there is a similar One on eBay these days...
The strainier is more pretty.
