NO!! they didn't!
Absolutely not. They would have been a natural zinc plating.

Wasn't it Del Shannon that said, "ah run run run run run away" ...
"ah run run run run run away"....I believe David Byrne from Talking Heads said it too. lol

If it's pre-serial, is it still considered a "Ringo kit"?
1965 Ludwig Hollywood
1970 Ludwig Jazzette
I would think even more so since he had to pick a wrap and black oyster was it.

Ludwig....yes!
Black Oyster Pearl......yes!
1960-1963.....THAT'S what I'm wondering about.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that "Ringo kits" are the kits that came out during the Ludwig boom after the Tonight Show aired the Beatles in Feb. 1964. Would a kit pre-dating this time, although with the same specs, really be regarded as a kit associated with that time period? What if Ludwig had B.O.P. kits around in the 40s? Would THOSE also be considered Ringo kits, if they existed? The logic is the same...
I don't know the answer, but I've actually been wondering this for a while. What do the collectors think?

It was the Ed sullivan show, and in all the ludwig catalogs never was it referred to as the ringo kit until recently, it was black oyster pearl!!
