Drum Prices Last viewed: 26 minutes ago

Thank you Tommyp, I never intended this to be a "political" discussion. I really want what's best for the country and was trying to voice my frustration in a non-political way.

If the prices go too low,...Wouldn`t that stop people from wanting to sell ? Then we don`t know what`s out there !!

Ahh, it's the nature of a free market economy. Then eventually people like us will be disturbed that there aren't more offerings and are then willing to pay more. That would be supply and demand. The problem we now have is a manipulated economy that makes it difficult for those who would like to demand to actually do so.

The MIJ knock-off comments are spot on as well. We complain about companies outsourcing overseas and cheap imports, but continually shop where we can find the cheapest prices; myself included, at least occasionally. With the nature of the Information Age we now know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. While we are busy shopping at the big box mart, we fight like all get-out to maintain overly high wages and great benefit packages for jobs that require little skill or training. And then we complain when comapnies send their jobs overseas and we are now back at the start of the cycle. Do you see the problem? There is but one cake: we can have it or we can eat it but we cannot have it and eat it too.

The other side of the MIJ coin is that either the major manufacturers would have had to come up with cheaper Club Dates, Towers, etc. models or there would have been a lot of us that would have never started playing in the first place.

Allow me to add... we don't "allow" the discussion of politics/religion on the VDF, and for very obvious reasons. However!, the way JR presented it in this thread is most certainly allowable, and has actually stimulated an INTELLIGENT discussion and sharing of views, without all the other crap that usually goes along with it. As long as it remains on this track... we're good! Course I'm speaking of the VDF, not the country... in that regard, well... not so good. SIGH. Carry on!!Tommyp

Some intellegent conversation and some very offensive. I think this thread should be deleted due to the offensive side. Lets not let politics divide us, delete it now.

Why so quick to activate the DELETE hammer?

I see some intelligent/thoughtful discourse and NO offensive material at all.

Wonders.......

This thread is much less about the effect on vintage drum prices ,than it is about the U.S. election results. For what it is worth , from the other side of a border; the U.S. and Canada and France and Germany and Italy and Japan and Britain and on and on---add whichever bloated self-indulgent western country you want, to the list; have peaked. There are too many people on planet earth and like all overgrown populations , we are now feeding on ourselves. The gig is up. It will never be as good as it was. Neither Republicans nor Democrats have a clue what to do. They are all just blabbering, vague nonsense, in the hope of getting reelected. Every single one of them are f'ing millionaires for f'ing sakes. Getting into office just helps them consolidate the issues for the fastest returns for them and their cronies. Every U.S. citizen is 50,000 in debt, that they did not personally incur ( correct me if I am wrong on that).

Worrying about the price of vintage drums in that context seems a bit odd,

however, one thing that Americans have always been very good at is marketing. I have full faith that those with a will, will find a way. So, take heart; even as the next generation of smart weapons is rolling off the assembly line and 20% of the population is storming the food banks, those Luddy's might still command a heavy price, with the right buyer.

Please read all of the responses again. I will not quote anyone to where this offensive remark was made. If you don’t see it then I guess I am all alone here and maybe should just disappear. It was only one comment but a strong one that did not belong in the conversation. If the discussion of politics is not allowed on this forum then delete it, rules are rules.

I did not see anything offensive either, unless ofcourse you think everything is hunky-dori in the good old U.S.A.

I imagine he's referring to the comment about the worst decision America had ever made. Could see where that would be offensive if you fell in the group that helped make the decision.

As far as drum prices go, it all depends on what you have. I've made a killing on some really rare ludwig kits this year.

Jeff is probably right. Time to move off the political/socio-economic diatribe and back to more topical vintage drum related discussions.

As to making a killing on some Ludwig kits, good on ya! That is good to hear.

I agree in a completely neutral to any political party way also!

How is this not political?
