I never told him how much to ask or what to take, if someone wants to buy his kit for $10,000, good for him. I just suggested he should take the $1,200 offer before the potential buyer gets away. I've seen it happen to others and they wind up having to go on ebay and after all is said and done, don't make much more than the original offer. He can take my advice or not.

If you got an offer for $1,200 without the snare, take it, you'll never see that again.
Must be some other variation of the words that I'm not familiar. Darn this American Public Education System!
It's guys like you that make this forum unbearable at times, yes, I did say to take the offer, only a suggestion, I did not put a gun to his head, thanks for helping clear that up.Violin

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
Wood, metal, and plastic! LOL
Not sure what you find funny. That kit, in the condition he is offering it in, with the snare, is worth every penny of the $1700. asking price. Yes wood, metal & plastic, but I double-dog dare you to find another in as nice condition for a better price.
50's Les Paul's are just wood & wire but they go for multiples of thousands every time one comes up for sale. Some things that are made from common materials have great intrinsic value. Jaghog's kit is a good example. Again, I don't quite get what you find so humorous that it calls for an all cap 'LOL'. I hope Jag gets to laugh all the way to the bank and whoever buys that kit will grin from ear to ear everytime they sit down to play it.

Wow, jaghog has some mighty devout followers around here, I've never seen so many stand up for one guy. Do you guys have something to gain in his sales? Let the guy speak for himself, although he doesn't seem to have as much problem with this as some of you do.

Take a lesson from Gary! How many members here ever "stand up" for you?
Play poker? Then you already know that, in Life, you get what your hand calls for.

PS - I'm a Bob Dylan fan, I follow his admonition; "Don't follow leaders and watch your parking meters!"
I don't "follow" anyone. Gary is a good guy who has earned my respect and my friendship by his words and deeds. See how that works, John?
First of let me say no commissions no slight of hand no one here is or has been a part of my sales at all in any way!!! i admire the courtesy given here for honest and knowledgeable people who share a common ground here and it's more than drums ,sometimes we learn about a person about his life sometimes we laugh at the good and funny anecdotes we see here other times we are sad by the way life deals out the hand we play and at those moment some of the members here reach out to see if things are going ok or they say a kind word to help you feel your not alone going through your troubles and that to me is what makes the VDF more than just a drum forum, people come and go and there are newbies always signing up but even with that the old guys and some of the young-ins respect what this community is all about and to me its about the life we lived and are living so yes there is a comradrie here and maybe a little sentimentality also, as i see the love of life from past reminiscence about drums to dreams of future happenings here and the zeal with its discussed, chasing the past we so covet and also the way we see the restoring of drums a labor that takes a lot so maybe just maybe we here at the forum dont just care about the drums but the drummer too thats my take here most of us speak from the heart and thats whats not noticed by some ty for being here all of you, whether i sell my drums or not that not what this forum is about.
