Funny Post

While the Ching Ring can be mounted in a separate HH clutch above the top HH cymbal as mentioned, it can also be mounted in the top HH cymbal clutch so that it's resting on the cymbal. I don't recommend this as it would cause unnecessary wear on the cymbal, but I remember seeing more than one drummer in the '70's doing this. This method of mounting provided a whole different sound; sort of a tamborine sizzle cymbal.

As far as pricing goes, I sold a slightly pitted pat.pending version to a buyer in Japan two years ago for $150 ($145 more than I paid for it in 1972). Still got a really beat-up one left that suits my needs.

Here is how I attached my pat. pend. Kester ching-ring on a Ludwig 1124 hi-hat. There are two threaded discs, and I just put it in between them.

My ring lost a set of chings awhile ago, but I still have them. They just need to be put back on.

Does anyone know if MIJ imitations of the Kesler Ching-Ring were made in the 60`s.I remember having a Ching-Ring in the 60`s but not sure it was the real deal.Anyway i`ve been looking for mine and can`t find it but seems to me it wasn`t a Ralph Kesler one.
