I saw this Cannon snare on cl really cheap, has anyone played one? It's a cow and looks kind of odd, thanks.

Another picture, the throw off kind of looks like the type on vintage Fibes snares.

I seem to remember Cannon drums being advertised in MD many years ago.

Interesting throw on that drum along with what looks like extended snares, and usually they aren't used on low quality drums.

I think it would be worth it to see it in person.

I recently got a Cannon 10 lug 6 1/2"x14" wood snare from a CL purchase. I think that the snares are, or were the only drums they made. I like there accessories. Their hoops, rims mounts, tension rods, etc. I think the snare is nice and sounds good. Could not find one thing about my particular snare on line. It matches my Rogers set perfectly. Unfortunately all the lug casings cracked when I tensioned up really high. They were very old, but I plan to get some new ones to replace them and get it up and running again. It has a steel block type snare throw. I actually like it. Here it is with my Rogers.

I have never seen one of these before. It looks like it could be a bit rare. If it sounds good....that's a great snag!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Cannon used the SFT 690 while manufacturing snares back in the 80's using Keller wood shells and cheap generic Pearl lugs..

It's not real chrome ,but a Mylar wrap and double sided tape..

I have a 7x14 that I refinished in a ebony wood stain.

Would have done a natural finish ,but some body used a magic marker on the shell to identify it that bled into the wood and it wouldn't sand out.

I retrofitted the SFT 690 and used it for a Fibes restore.

Using a Dunnet throw off and Austin Fibes butt mount.

Will post a Youtube of the sound.

The lugs are cheap(pot metal),but if you put some work into it,it can be a decent snare.
