Camco 99 Super / Parallel Strainer Help

From red66charger

I put the drum back together. I think it sounds pretty good. You can see at the beginning of this video clip what I'm dealing with. The throw off on the primary strainer will not engage the snares without me lifting up on the bottom of the throw off mechanism. That's really the only issue. I didn't grease any parts and maybe that is why? Or, the cam inside the primary strainer is mishaped? In either event, after spending a whole weekend wrestling with it, I think I'll tell myself "it's working just fine".https://youtu.be/v11Mlf5Jw5gSome pics of the finished drum. Something is going on with the cams. It could be one side or both. Sounds good though. And don't rewrap it. I know you mentioned the wrap being beat but once it's a rewrap it's no longer original!

I came to the same conclusion about the cams. I'm pretty sure it's the cam on the master strainer. Probably a bigger project than I'm capable of undertaking which is why I sewed the patient back up. I definitely have a better understanding how this system works now. I actually think it's pretty ingenious. I especially like the adjustment for the tightness of the snares on the frame.

I hear you on the wrap. The whole kit will stay original.

Two more question if you don't mind.

1. How would you describe the snare beds on the wood 701s? I think they are fairly shallow. Were the COB beds different or less consistent?

2. You mention the rarity of your 701s and 99s...can you weigh in on my 701? I believe you have identified it as a 2nd generation 701 Super.

I bow to your knowledge and expertise. I really appreciate your time, Steve.
