G'day all,

Just received last week from Amazon a 6 disc set of the Fillmore East '71 march-june ABB concerts.WOW! both the playing from "SkyDog" (Duanne Allman) &Dickey Betts &the rest of the ABB just blows my mind/floors me etc! :).Does anyone know what both Butch's&Jaiemo's setup re:cymbals drums were during the early ABB phase?.In the booklet that comes with the 6 disc set there's pics of Jaiemo's kit that appears/looks to be a natural maple finish kit,

Ta for reading &your help! :),

I was at some of those early concerts and I found this photo from 71' at the Filmore East online:

Just going by lugs, looks like Gretsch drums all around, Jaimo and Butch. Jaimo is actually playing a Bop kit with an 18" kick in the photo. Can't tell what kind of cymbals from the photo, but both kits 'appear to be' Gretsch. (as seen from a distance.)

Here's a old Modern Drummer with a interview of them both. Pretty sure it covers cymbal setups they both used. From 1981 so somewhat back in the day still?? 2 of my favorite drummers. Not many double drummers jelled like these two~!

Yes I think your right~! And Berry Oakley on bass still. Maybe this pic was shortly after Duane was killed? I know Lamar Williams replaced Berry on bass when Berry was killed. Tragic they lost them both in such a short time. Les Dudak did some studio work on Brothers and Sisters to help finish the album. He was good friends with Dickey Betts.

The photo came up when I entered: Allman Bros. Band 1971 Filmore East. It could just have been there as part of the ABB search term. (From another time/gig.) It wasn't labeled.

And... for my money, the best guitar 'replacement' the Bros. ever hired in all these many years was Warren Haynes! Last time I saw them live was at the Beacon Theater in NY in 98' or 99'.
