Better than Easter Yeggs.. Last viewed: 19 hours ago

From 1980

That wrap is pretty rad. The color pops, beautiful kit! How do they sound?

Bass drum has massive thud (there is a Superkick II on now) Tom & FT sound big & warm & have new Aquarian Vintage heads on batter. I'm not used to the heads but like them. The snare has nice crack with old reliable coated Ambassador. I'm going to mess with tuning on the drum.

the re-rings do appear to match with the size of the drums.

Do serial numbers make any difference with the year?

and are these the famous B&B lugs that sometime crack?

I'm not very schooled on the Rogers drums but looking forward to learning.

Thanks all!

Yes on Jasper.

Yes on cracking. Have the lugs been reinforced?

I would be careful about too much tension.

Very cool indeed. As mentioned by Ploughman, the lugs are very fragile. Look very, very carefully for cracks around the top near the swivel nut. The back mounts are simply tabs of brass that are bent over after the lug is taken from the mold. So removing the lugs is a delicate process if you ever have a need to do that. Because they are all brass, they are subject to fatigue, but the also lent a great sound to the drums. Be very careful with tuning them high.

The wrap has got to be one of the most beautiful ever supplied. Steve Maxwell had some Gretsch in his NY store a few years ago. Apparently he had convinced someone to reissue that wrap for him. They were gorgeous.

By the way, there is a supplier of lugs in chromed steel, but they run about $30 each, so you'd have to spend better than a grand to replace them all. Better to be very careful with what you have. JP2 Creations.

The inserts look to be proud enough you could lose an 8th or even a quarter inch to some sort of preventative. The trick's gotta be using more inner tension casing area, right? Spread the load out as much as possible. Has anyone fabricated such a doohicky?

On the Petty site, he does state he would work a deal for a sets worth of lugs. I don't know what a "deal" is exactly, but... l have ten of the snare lugs on order right now, which will be installed on a first generation Dyna-Sonic COB.

Seem to be 61-62 time frame. Some shells in the 24xxx range were 5 ply with less of a round over edge. Stunning kit. Colors are still so vivid..... wow!

Glenn.
