Does anyone here have experience with fixing bent rims? Last weekend I let one of my beloved Rogers Tower toms slip out of my fingers and when I picked it up the rim had an ugly dent in it. Doesn't seem to affect the sound but cosmetically it looks awful and I feel like a total dork for having let this happen. Oh well, I guess that's why they call them accidents. I'd like to see if there is an effective way to correct this problem before searching the globe for a correct replacement rim.

The good side is it hit the rim and not a lug.
It really depends on the degree of the bend. I have heard
people fix rims, but usually it was not sitting flat.
I would go on the hunt since fixing it might affect the chrome.
I think a metal guy with the proper time could possibly fix it. Then
it might be cheaper to look for the new one.
You can always try a rubber mallet and slowly hitting it back into shape.

Thanks David, I've already been able to locate some replacement rims so I'll probably go that route and then see if one of my buddies who repairs brass instruments will have a go at it. I'm with you about fearing the chrome will crack in the process but we'll see.
