Congrats on your new Slingys. Not big on purple but those babies are pretty!

Now, no promising yourself stupid stuff like no more kits.

Thank you!

Very nice/rare!......

I had a kit in those same sizes/color in around 1990....could be same kit...

Was that King Louie that had them?

Hey Guys!

Thanks for all the positive comments about this kit! Would have responded sooner, but there was spotty WiFi on our Amtrak train home from Portland.

I made payment this morning and the drums will ship out tomorrow. Should have them late next week.

Nope, Sparkling Purple Pearl was never high on my list of favorite colors! Could it be it was just too "girly" back then? LoLoLoLo It does look cool, though, and due to the fine condition and rarity, I wanted to be able to display and play this fine kit.

I'm well aware of the position limitations for the Setomatic double tom holder. I had an Artist J5 kit some years back with this same holder and it worked well for me.

I don't have a snare drum for this kit, yet. I'm angry with myself for selling a COB Krupa Sound King a few years ago. It was from the same year as the Purple kit! The snare still had the round-over edges and aluminum backing plates, but COS hoops. It was the BEST sounding Sound King I ever had... and I sold it! DOH

This kit can be either the Modern Solo or Modern Rock, depending on what hardware you use. I have a full set of hardware for the Modern Solo, and would only need 2 BR cymbal stands to make it a Modern Rock. I'll set it up as the Modern Solo, take pictures and get them posted for all to see.

Again, thanks to all of you for the positive comments and support of my addiction!

Say, not to change the subject (but I am)...

I've a number of friends up in Portland, and travel up there once a year or so. How's the trip on the train? I'd be starting in Fresno. I think it's about an 18 hour trip or so by rail.

Hi Fishwaltz!

No problem with changing the subject!

Taking the Amtrak to Portland was fun... although it's a 30 hour journey from Union Station in Los Angeles, mainly due to all the stops... about 26! However, my girlfriend and I had a sleeper room, complete with our own tiny bathroom/shower! Meals are also included with both either a roomette or sleeper. Just like being on a cruise; all they do is feed you!!!!

Portions of the track can be bumpy, but that's part of the fun. Go for it and let me know what you think!

I've taken that train from Santa Barbara to the Bay Area. It's a relaxing way to travel—if you're not in a hurry.

Keep in mind that the Coast Starlight is nicknamed the Coast Star-Late: Amtrak doesn't own the tracks so the train sometimes has to pull over to let commercial traffic pass.

Thanks for the input!

We've taken Amtrak a number of times from Fresno to Sacramento (we have two daughters and grand kids there), Bay Area (Oakland then across on BART), Union Station in LA, the little station by Disneyland... forgot it's name. Anyway, I was just looking for input on the trip. I guess we'll try it! Sounds like fun...

And yes, it's a nice trip. Especially if you don't care about the time! Actually, the Valley trains are pretty good about the schedules. I understand about the track thing, though.

I can't wait to see the pictures of that Slingy kit!

PURPLE!

Thanks!

Yep, we took the Coast Starlight. Naturally, there were those times we had to stop for freight trains, but, believe it or not, we were early arriving to Portland and back to Los Angeles!

Yes, a great way to travel if time is on your side. Hmm... sounds like a good name for a song! LoLoLoLo
