Hello. I wondered if anyone has ever seen this very old snare or parade drum made by Leedy. If you could let me know when you think it was made and its rough value I would very much appreciate it. It says Leedy Ludwig on the head silencer thingy and the head says Radio King Genuine Calf on it. The bottom head has a big hole otherwise this drum is in pretty good shape considering its age. Thanks in advance for any help.

Anytime you see an old drum with minimum metal parts on it, then you know it's from the WW2 era. That's because they were rationing metal for the war effort. Designers got creative and came up with ways to continue manufacturing the comparatively "frivolous" things of life, such as drums....and designs like these were the result. very cool!

Many of us would like to own a vintage drum set with our exact date of birth inside the drum shells. If there were such a drum set for me, it would have to be of this type because I was born in 1943. I think that would be an exhaustive and costly search. So, I'd be happy to find vintage drums older than 1970 with Oct 24 or 10-24 dates. If you have any, please holler at me.
Unfortunately I was born in 1981

Congratulations on a fantastic find.
Don't do a thing to it, not even clean it! It's worth more completely funky dirty, than polished or tinkered with in any way. Beautiful!!

Not to be too much of a whiner, but how many members here join just to get info for their eBay sale, then never post again.
Here's the topic of discussion up for sale on eBay.
Not that I'm against finding values or specifics, but I would be curious to know how many members never made it past 1-5 posts.
