76 Ludwig Red Sparkle; question on shells

Loading...

Thank you guys for your insight! I'm tickled to know they were older than I originally thought! Walking

The sound of these suckers are great! So far I've used the Remo Vintage Emperors on the batter side of toms and clear Ambass on bottoms. One of the threads inside the 13" tom is broken so i need to replace that. Also, last year the tom mount holder on the bass drum stipped out on me and wont hold the rack tom up, so I just put it on a stand now until I get a new one.

Anyone know the "name" of this set? Did Ludwig have a specific name?

Also, the wrap seam on the floor tom is just starting to pull up a little bit, not much at all. What kind of adhesive could I use, if any, to stop this before it gets out of hand?

I've had good luck on seams using the double-faced tape. Remove the rims, heads, and any lugs or other hardware on the seam. Carefully with a putty knife (1" wide works best) peel up the whole seam back about an inch & a half or so. You'll need at least 3 hands (so my wife has always helped) to hold that back in order to install the tape. Then press it down. I use a couple of 1x2s with C-clamps to clamp it down and leave it alone for 24 hours or so (whenever I get back to it!).

The problem is, the tape is expensive, about $37 a roll, so you'd have PLENTY left over. You can get it at Drumaker.com and other places as well.

You may just need to replace the eyebolt on your bass mount tom holder.

If it is the 9.5 L rod that slips when you tighten the nut

They are available for a couple dollars.
