For that price I would insist on see`n the inside of that BD and determine how much damage that pillow thingy has caused !!
I saw this ad as well. Agree with Oddball - for that price, there is very little detail given - Zildjian cymbals? Would want to see interiors. Personally I think price is a bit steep. Yes, it's Ringo's color, but is Clubdate model. Looks like a nice kit, but I'd ask lots of questions, and try to talk him down. Just my opinion - depends on what it's worth to you.
I'm just typing my observations, and unfortunately I don't type as fast as I think...
1) It is a Club Date set in what appears to be at least "good" condition, probably better. That's good.
2) It does appear to be original "ringo" BOP. That's good.
3) You did say it has a Supra. That's good, but can't see enough of it to really know what it's like.
4) It does have cymbals... I'm not big into cymbals, but I know what I like and what they're worth, but have no idea what these are.
5) That hihat stand looks fairly new. Cymbal stand don't match. This don't help.
So it boils down to this. If it were me I'd want to personally see them. 'Cause from what I see from the picture and know from what you've said, I think he's too high.
Sorry for all the ramblin'.

IMHO, for a clubbie, it's a little stiff. Just because it's bop makes no big diff to me. It's still a clubbie. Now, I may be wrong, and I am certainly used to that, and it is a pretty little thing, but I am not aware that Ringo ever played one.
:2Cents:
My 2 cents. You can get a very decent oyster black pearl Super Classic for that kind of dough. Just be patient, they're out there.
Club Date - nice little kits
BOP - nice vintage color
But the two don't equal a Ringo kit, Ringo never played a Club Date kit.
Price should be what ever the going price is for other Club Dates. I get tired of seeing everything BOP as being "Ringo". If you think of a Club Date kit as being a jazz kit then WMP or Champagne Sparkle seems more "Jazz" than BOP. To me anyway.
That's what I love about this forum...there's lots of help and knowledgeKiss
Yep, Ringo never played a Club Date. too bad maybe?
I think the only time he played a 20,12,14 Ludwig was his original "Down Beat" kit purchased in England, then he moved to 22,13,16.
Yes, $2000 is steep. The snare is nice but not a COB which would make a big difference here and the cymbals I believe are Paiste Ludwig Standard. The hardware is pretty well useless as a match.
thumbs down on this I'm hearing.

I agree, a Club Date kit, while fine drums, is not a 'Ringo' kit. And while I'm still in a slightly 'ranting' mood (see post on Combo's):
Just because a kit is wrapped in BOP does not a 'Ringo' make! Besides, other than the deal that it 'looks' like the kit he played on Ed Sullivan's show (which I watched, sometimes it's good to be getting older) it's just another kit with the same wrap IMHO. Why don't folks go nuts over his Maple kit?
And yes, I understand the imagery and icon status and leaps in sales that Ludwig enjoyed. I just don't understand having a kit in the same wrap being meaningful when the only thing it has in common is being on the same planet.
Okay, it's a bit cold this morning so I think I'm going to burn my soapbox... :D
