20s Leedy snare

Loading...

[Attachment: 23744]My latest purchase. Got this off shopgoodwill. 5x14 NOB. When I got it, it was missing 3 of the rare slotted t-rods, but Mikey came to the rescue and now it is playable. Very different build than my 20s Ludwigs. The edges are a rolled bead, with a rering of steel below. Plus the inverted bead around the middle. Sounds pretty good. Not quite as good as the old Ludwig NOBs but close. The drum came with calf heads and gut snares, which I sold to offset the cost.

That hole pattern will work for the later Presto and Speedway strainers also.

The hole spacing appears to be 1 5/8". I have the same one on my Leedy Multi-Model NOB, which I believe to be pre 1920. This drum was posted as a "possible CB400" because of the case it was in. One of the members here pointed out the Leedy throw, so I bid and won. Mr. Curotto bought the very nice calf heads and gut snares. They went to a good place.

Thanks AM.... the search goes on for me, then

I have a mystery shell that has a 2-hole 1 and 1/8th inch horizontal mounting pattern for the strainer.

Dang, I should have asked before.... what is the pattern for the butt assembly?

Sorry, man!

Hi there,

I've had one of these snares for a while now and could never ID it possitively. Any idea what they're going for? Also could you help me date this bass drum pedal? I'm going to do a general post also, but you seem to know your vintage gear.

Thanks,

Bill D
