Thank you. He wants $1900 and has the original hardware, snare, cymbals, chair, etc. The drums are in very good condition with minimal pitting in the chrome. 85 year old man that bought them new around 1975.

My dad was a retired Levi's executive. I have some contacts there, and have often thought about asking them if they could cut me up enough material to cover a 13/16/22 Ludwig B/O kit.

That denim drum covering reminds me too much of those Sears Toughskin jeans mom used to order out of the catalog for me when I was a kid in the 1970s

That would be cool.

Denim is usually available from a good wholesale material shop. I mean, you can buy it from your local shop (whatever that might be), but the good stuff is usually where the garment makers go - wholesale.

Altho even then, the good quality materials are usually sourced from the mills, not from a reseller. The mark-up is just crazy!

I have owned a set of these denim covered Slingerlands for over 35 years, and amazingly, they have faded only slightly, and as for cleaning, simply take the round dusting brush on your vacuum, and it will amaze you how quickly they look great again.

I am presently offering the set for sale, at $1400. Somehow, at age 86, I don't think I am any longer in demand, but i have had some great gigs over the years. Pictues are available by email: leongc_25840@yahoo.com

I actually owned the complete denim kit in the late 70's. Traded my vintage Gretsch kit for it cuz at the time I thought going denim was more cool than a mid 60's Gretsch midnight blue pearl. Oh well..the denim kit was a hit as a fad but it was really a challenge to get it sounding good. I was recording a bit at that time and I always used the studio drums cuz they sounded so much better. I still have the denim snare drum but traded the rest of the kit in the 80's..the hardware was cheap and the snare still needs a throw off to be original.

But they were for real. The kit was right beside another slingerland set in the music store that was wrapped with the coca cola logo back in '76. Not sure where that ended up or if it was even factory made.
