Not to panic. Wrap looks original - not sure if they used same wrapping process past the later 60s, I just know from my own observations, and from what I've learned. The wrap SHOULD overlap. Someone with better knowledge of 60s/70s Ludwigs would know better. I still think it's probably just a re-badge on the floor, especially seeing the last shot of inside. Hang tight dude, they are great drums regardless.

The wrap overlap isn't present on my 1969 drums, and was not used by 1969 according to Rob Cook's Ludwig Book. As he says "The white diagonal line in this photo [shown in my book] is the pearl covering. Up until 1969 the covering was applied to the shell while the wood was still flat, and the covering was 'lapped' into the shell. This made for a less perfect round shell, but prevented problems with the finish pulling off." So that wrap looks correct for 1969. Including the unfortunate bit of pulling away. But that's what you get with the nicer round shells. Swings and roundabouts.

So I'd say the badge was replaced. The grommet is also a short one and not the longer one they used in 1969 (unless somebody has more detail about grommet length). And those scratches are a bit of a giveaway.

Do you have a pic of the badge?

The wrap looks original. What I have a question about is the mahogany interior of the shell. On a mahogany/poplar/maple lay-up the mahogany ply would have been on the outside for a wrapped shell. I'm thinking you've got 3-ply mahogany shells there because of the wrap. If so, those are going to be some very warm and FAT sounding tubs.

Win/win. Clean them up, get them ready, and then beat the hell out of them.

Too many great drums to list here!

Either way, nice kit,and you got a good deal IMO.

On the FT,who really knows what happened, could have been a few different scenarios.

1.If the wrap matches the other drums really well, pattern, fade and condition wise, and the warp and way it is applied looks right for a late 60's and later kit,it could be a replacement unoriginal badge,I have no idea why someone would do so,but if you see scratches around the grommet on the int of the shell, and or the grommet looks different then the others on the kit,I would think this is the most likely scenario.

2.I can't tel from pics, but the int of the ft looks like maple, and all the later 70's non modified Luddy clear int 3 plies I have seen have been maple int,I had a set I bought new in 1978,3 of the 4 drums were clear maple int,the ft was granitione,I have heard that Lud went to granitone int when they were using up Mahog int shells so all shells would match in a kit,and still used 3 ply shells after the switch to the 6 ply unimold shell, but I have never removed granitone from a shell to see if it had a mahogany or maple int but whether or not your shell is maple or mahogany,it is possible someone removed the granitone from a later 70's shell,IMO

My 2 cents. In the 70's they didn't lap the wrap into the shells... the drums were actually more round (no little bump at the lap in point). Many of the larger drums in the 70's came though with mahog. interiors (bass drums and large floor toms) Someone may have replaced a bent up badge, who knows. I would leave it alone or find a no serial BO badge for it so you can sleep at night. Then go play em.

The photo is a little deceiving but I'm pretty certain that's a maple interior ply that has gained some patina through exposure to the elements. With the wrap in proper order, no worries on this one. I have the same kit and as John, (Purdie Shuffle) once pointed out with mine and his own kit, the wrap has correctly faded, taking on a nice charcoal look. Pretty sure its not a re-wrap.

The badge was likely bent up and replaced at some point which happened with the B& O badges quite a bit because they are so large and were easy to bend out of place by accident.
