Leedy guys. Help. Last viewed: 2 seconds ago

Loading...

I need some help dating a Leedy snare. I am too dumb to be able to post a pic, but think the answers to a couple of questions may help. First, does anyone know when they went from 2 screws on the lugs to 4 screws? Second, does anyone know when the beaded shells first became available? Particularly on the Multi-Model? My drum has 2 screws and no bead(s).

Thanks

Tom

Ah! Thanks VM. That narrows it down to 1914 to 1925.

Yes, tube lugs. Here is some information I put together on Leedy lugs:

In John Aldridge's book, on page 58, there is an ad from a 1914 catalog that shows a Multi- Model just like mine, with 2 screws and no beads. Are you sure about your timeline?

Doesnt sound right. Do you have the catalog image?

I do have the image, but lack the skills to post it. Guide to Vintage Drums by John Aldridge. Pages 57 and 58. Good as I can do.

I just saw that! This shows how little I know about pre-1920's drums. If that catalog date is correct, that is really early for a swivel nut lug. If anyone knows for certain that it's a 1914 catalog, that would be great.

However, Harry Cangany's book "Great American Drums" shows the Multi Model as beginning in 1920.
