Why do people do this? I found these on ebay. Here is the seller's description:
THIS IS NOT A LUDWIG DRUM SET. This vintage kit started life as a 70's Maxtone Japanese drum set. Snare drum NOT included. These drums are in excellent condition and look like brand new! I have completely recovered the kit in Marine Pearl from Precision drum company. Features include: rail consolette tom mount, bass drum mounted cymbal arm, reproduction Ludwig badges. The kit was completely refurbished inside and out. The inside of all drums were painted white to look like vintage Ludwig drums. The original white covering was stripped, tom holes filled and then re-covered in marine pearl. All Evans heads have been played very little. Snare Drum NOT included. The following is included with the kit: Snare Drum NOT included 14x22 Bass Drum 8x12 mounted tom 16x14 floor tom Mapex bass drum pedal light weight snare and cymbal stand Sabian 16" B8 crash cymbal Drums will be packed in a minimum of 2 boxes and possibly 3. There are no returns so please examine the pictures carefully and feel free to ask any questions you may have!! Did I mention that the Snare drum is NOT included! PayPal payments ONLY
Granted, he is not trying to scam or deceive anybody, but why would anyone completely misrepresent drums like this? That's like taking a Ford Escort, painting it like a Lexus, putting Lexus badges and logos all over it, but then saying "It's not really a Lexus". Yeah, no crap, Sherlock! They are nice enough drums, why not pass them off as refurbished MIJ Maxtones, since.............you know..............that's WHAT THEY ARE! I don't get it...............
