Do the roto`s have levers to remove them from the rack or nuts ?

The one`s with the nuts are the first series they made !!

Pretty sure it's a vinyl of some type.

The Rotos have levers. Bought those new, around 1988 I believe.

Fortunately, I have the bottom rims.

Just had them off since I am short around 1/2 dozen lugs.

CORRECT! Pearl Drums were made in the Gibson guitar factory in Nashville in 1985 when Pearl was migrating their production facilities from Japan to Taiwan. I believe they used Keller shells also (so I was told).

I will take a closer look at the finish on the drums this evening before the show.

Looking back at the finishes for Pearl, they did produce sets with a white and a black leatherette wrap. The wrap does have a grainy appearance and appears to only have been offered in the early to mid-70's time frame.

Yep, the tom mount set-up dates these to early-mid 70s. The finish is very hard to find. Not saying rare, but this is only the second set I've seen with this wrap. Looking at the bearing edges, they appear to need some help. Next time you change heads, I would, if they were mine, I'd sand them smooth. Look like there is some rough to them and that makes tuning uneven across the heads. Not advising you to change the contour in any way, just smooth them out so the heads slide over easier and tuning will become smoother and faster.

As for the '85 Nashville production date, that may well be correct, but they had opened the Taiwan factory in the mid 70s when Star stopped production to re-enter the market as TAMA and Pearl ended up with all the stencil contracts from St Louis Music Supply, Brooklyn Music Supply and all the other, smaller American and European distributors. The Taiwan drums were not quite up to the same level of quality, by a long shot, as the Japan drums. Pearl never stopped Japan production, those are/were the high-end drums, then and now. When they moved the stencil production to Taiwan, they allowed quality to slip quite a bit so they could focus on building the Japan Pearl name as TAMA entered the scene and gave them some real competition.

I may have a handful of those lugs. Please measure them, outside and hole spacing and I'll see what I have for you.

Here are a couple of photos where the skin is loose at a seam.

Not sure what an original grommet would look like on the inside, but the ones inside my toms are scored, like they might have been removed at one point.

I've also attached pictures of what I believe is the original bass pedal. Does not appear to have any markings that I can find.

Jim, everything appears to be original and correct. As for the badges, on this kit they would have been glued or taped on, so falling off or someone peeling them off at some point would be the likely outcome of the life of them. The grommets are correct, the wrap should be re-glued at the seam to keep it from coming loose any more. This is a rare wrap, so keeping it intact should be high on your list.

So, to re-cap, your kit is an early-mid 70s, Pearl built kit. May or may not have been badged as Pearl, could have been any number of "name brands". The wrap is Black Naugahyde. The shells are some sort of Asian "mahogany"...no telling what the real name of the wood is.

If you will measure the lugs and take one off and take some pix, I may be able to help in the replacement of those you are missing.
