The Most Expensive Drums Last viewed: 6 hours ago

$252,487 for Moon's kit is still apparently the most expensive. Not my personal expectation, but that does support the facts ... so far. My guess is IF Ringo or his family EVER decide to part with kit number three (with that matching very special snare), that might tilt the scales into unreal realms.

...or...Ringo's gold plated Super-Sensitive (only 4 were made/given out)...I think it is being displayed at the NY Museum of Modern Art...

You guys need to read some of the comments that are tagged along with this link...a couple guys arguing wether Keith Moon or Neil Peart is the greatest R&R drummer ever. My favorite is the guy saying: "First of all Keith is dead. Peart continued to influence and rule the world of rock drumming. Do a google search and you will see his name and obsessed followers everywhere. This is not 1976. Come back to the 2000s for a second."HA! HA! HA!Everybody with any sense knows that Tommy Lee is the greatest R&R drummer ever!...you just can't account for stupidity!LoLoLoLoOK-OK! Sorry!!!...I'm a newbe...just trying to add a little levity. I did see a kit advertised on the Bay last year for $1,000,000.00! It was a Ludy, Bonham size kit (If memory serves me) in amazing condition, but it was a spoof portrayed by someone protesting the eBay fee hikes, or so I heard. I can't remember the sellers online name, but he does a "Redneck/Hillbilly" Act on the Bay & does remarkably well!

Can we all say: BONHAM!

Can we all say: BONHAM!Mike Curotto

Too funny! I imagine if any "true blue" original Bonham kits went to auction, especially the Acrolite, it would re-define vintage R&R kit value in this market. I loved John!...I was in Nuncies Music in Birmingham (home of the "Drum Evangelist" Gary Asher) when I heard he had died...I sat, or rather collapsed, on the steps next to the percussion area...this guy was a GOD to me (John not Gary the Drum Evangelist) & I was crushed! I have no fortune to spend on the instruments my childhood Idols used...but, I'd be willing to bet all the money I don't have (barb at the humorless) that this guys stuff would break the bank. A lot of people out there don't remember Buddy, Max or Gene (just to name a few) but they remember John. I've met a lot of great drummers in my mediocre career, but I never met John. This guy was bigger than life & one of his on-stage kits could very well demand a price bigger than life!

Just my 2 cents...OK, I'm ready...ya'll can ban me now!...go ahead, I'm used to it...I HAVE NO FEELINGS!!!!LoLoLoLo

OK....here it goes...thats Vistalite...not Acrolite. The Acrolite is a particular model of aluminum snare drum made by Ludwig.Ludwig Vistalite drums were and are a model of acrylic drums, amber color in particular, played by Bonzo..

But more on topic,I really believe with proper providence, and sold by a reputable auction house, even without "that" particular jazzfest, anyone of Ringos OBP sets would bring 7 figures. The Jazzfest alone might even go that high.

Imagine hitting a powerball lotto for over say 150 million, and the next week.....here we have up for auction a set of drums played and owned by Ringo Starr. It comes with certificate of authenticity and the lucky winner will have their photo taken with Ringo handing you the drums.

Sorry...got a little out of hand there

I'd buy it if I hit the Powerball, for sure. That's actually a very good point. I always think about that same kind of thing whenever people comment on a certain drum or set as being "overpriced". "Overpriced" to whom? These kinds of things are considered as treasures to a certain group of people -better than gold. They already have the gold, after all! Yes Sir

Robert Plant had Todd Trent restore one of John Bonham"s stainless steel kits (never used on stage). He donated it to a charity auction and it sold for $35000 US. Neal Peart's "All the worlds a stage" kit sold on ebay for $27000 US.

SORRY!!! LOL! I'm was watching 2 Acrolites on the Bay in another browser tab while trying to type...can you say Dyslexic?

I think this is one of those topics that has no clear answer...sorta like "who ever dies with the most toys, wins!" A kit played by one of our heros is only worth as much as we're willing to pay!...we know that these drums are not worth these prices, but if I was a Billionaire, I'd buy Ringo himself just so I could hear him do that funny laugh from the Beatles cartoon show (hu-hu, yeaaah)...or ask him why the hell he did "Caveman"...oh yeah, Catherine Bach.Jump For Joy
