that's a lot of gear and a serious clean out. i would be looking for someone close to you who knows about the storage unit.

hopefully there are security camera on the complex and you have pics of the stuff with serial numbers noted somewhere. inform the cops of course and inform the local music stores and pawn shops (though they generally don't help unless they're forced to)

then keep your eyes peeled on ebay and CL. have contact info from those sites ready in case you see something so if they cooperate they can locate him or shut down the ads quick.

Im very sorry too Matt, your such a good guy, I hate to see this happen to anyone but dang it your one of the really good ones. I would think pawn shops would be the place to look as well as ebay and facebook, but you know that. I will definitely share it, I already saw it from Glenn.

Thank you!

The number of people that have shared this and re-shared has been humbling. I have been contacted by people both in and outside of my network of friends and from as far away as Eastern Europe to tell me they would watch pawn shops, Craig's List etc. and keep their eyes open. A few friends from drumming magazines have reached out and shared the info and others have graciously allowed me to share on their pages. Numerous drum forums, both on and off Facebook have been quick to spread the word and apparently several people also contacted the local news. I was contacted by and just finished an interview with WFSB (channel 3 in Hartford) that will run on tonight's news. Hopefully this will make it much harder, if not impossible to offload any of my stuff. Thank you all, I couldn't possibly ask for better friends.

I think I'm gonna print out a few copies of the list you provided and hand them over to some of my local shops in and around where I live here in Monroe. I know sometimes they do sell on consignment, so who knows. But the more the word gets out, the more chances to find what was taken.

Wow a tv interview. That's encouraging. Just wondering if this loss (hopefully only temporary) would be covered by any insurance plan you may have. Good karma from everyone out there is good to hear :)

If enough static is raised the thief won't be Abel to sell them and he mite feel there too hot to handle and just dump them watch the recyclers and trash heaps

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I agree with drummer fish. I bet that gear was taken by someone very close who knew about it. More than likely another locker renter if that's the kind of place it is. Huge bummer. Just like everyone else I will keep my eyes and ears open for suspicious characters selling drum gear. I'm working in Bridgeport for the next few weeks and will make a few stops in the local shops down there.

That absolutely gets me infuriated.. Collecting gear over so many years and then having it snatched like that is, for lack of a better, a s@#&ty break.. I would actually look in the places where you'd least find it, because maybe that's what the thief may have anticipated.. The whole "right under their nose" thing is a deceitful and sneaky way of throwing you off the scent.. I wish you all the best of luck on getting your gear back and having the culprit/culprits apprehended..

Maybe some flyers around the neighborhood can help in your search as well..Checking some local bands play live venues such as pubs, bars and clubs, may also be helpful..
