My 12 year old daughter is in the habit of buying snare drums to fix and resell to fund her expensive drum habit. She picked up a snare drum at a yard sale a couple of days ago. It was wrapped in black naugahyde (seriously) but you could see an oval badge underneath. She bought it and brought it home and when we removed the black fake leather, it was a Slingerland 5.5" x 14" wooden snare drum. The finish is an iradescent, black/blue. Almost looks like slabs of mica or mother-of-pearl are in it. Any ideas of what it would be? We were able to clean it up with just some hot water and now, her $5 investment looks pretty darn nice. I guess someone just wanted leather looking drums. I should have bought the rest of the set!
Anyway, so on eBay it will go. What is a good starting price for this drum. The badge is black with gold writing, it says it was produced in Niles, Il and the serial number is 49500. She put new heads on it but everything else is original, even the snare. I can put a photo here, if that would help. Thanks.
