Slingerland Blue Satin Flame Drums Last viewed: 20 hours ago

We all have opinions. My opinion has always been to not like my smaller left side tom on a snare stand. Slingerland showed that in catalogs in years when I bought new Slingerland drum sets with 20-12-14 (or16)configurations. That option never appealed to me then or ever since. If you like it, that's your choice.

I like and use both approaches, depending on the situation, and have offered no opinion one way or the other here or anywhere else. I have rail mounts but usually put the tom on a stand at rock shows or party gigs to prevent the catastrophic shell damage that would ensue should someone fall into the kit with the tom mounted on a rail.

What I meant was, it's amazing that Slingerland offered the option decades before it became popular.

Right now I am close to being totally demoralized by the search for parts missing from the stupid Club Date kit I [should never have] bought. As such I could not appreciate the tone of your post less.

So, I hurt your feelings by expressing my opinion. I'm sorry that your feelings get bruised so easily.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Sorry about that. Won't happen again.

I've had a few kits now where I think, now *this* is it. But I end up selling and going for something else. Same for you or do you basically know you'll be moving on?

The wrap on the 13" tom has an exceptionally cool satin flame effect when the photo is enlarged.

I was thinking the same thing Matt.

Johnny, great looking kit and you can mount that tom anyway you like!

Like I said on another thread, I only have room for one kit so I sell and trade to keep it fresh and make some extra cash.

I had been eyeing this kit for awhile at a local drum shop, it was on consignment and I know the guy who was selling it. I couldn't get him to trade but he also owned the red Slingerland as well. To make a long story short, I traded for the red Slingerland, put it on cl and the next day was able to get enough cash to buy the satin kit and make a small profit.

Now, I'm trying to sell these to buy a wmp Slingerland kit a member here is selling. I've been looking for one for a long time.

Hopefully I'll get these sold before he sells his kit.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Very cool. By the time you "end up" with a keeper, if ever, you'll be darn sure it's *the one* you want, having sampled basically everything out there.

I actually try to get drums with problems so I can't turn around and sell em...but it hasn't stopped me yet lol.

I have the answer which I think will satisfy both camps:

on a vintage kit, make darn certain to use a vintage snare stand to hold the tom
