Slingerland 80N BR Kit on eBay - Value? Last viewed: 11 hours ago

Hi all!

I noticed this beautiful Slingerland 80N BR kit on eBay, item 261839732935

I've posted one picture for you all to see. Certainly looks like the real thing! I was just wondering about the price. Given that Slingerland always seems to be lower in value than the other 3 US companies, is the asking price realistic? Looking forward to opinions!

Well... you asked!, so...

Looks EXCELLENT and well kept. Personally, I would want the 14X24 .. but .. that may not be a deal breaker for you. Otherwise, it's all there! The five drums PLUS all the correct hardware for $2500.00 is not out of line for a Slingerland BR 80N of this era and in this condition in my opinion. I guess the question becomes: How badly do you want/need? You ARE on the right coast to do the deal though, so that's a plus! I just wish it had the 14x24!

I tend to agree with Tommy. This was Slingerland's flagship kit while Buddy Rich was their top endorser and it looks to be complete and well-taken care of.

not to mention...they aren't making any more of 'em

Yes...I did ask...and you provided the answer! I had a feeling the kit was priced appropriately, based on condition and completeness. All the hardware, including the narrow-base cymbal stands, are in very good condition. While I was never crazy about the first-year aluminum Setomatic holder, it can always be changed out for the chromed version. For me, a 24" bass drum is too large. Do I need it? NO! Do I want it? YES! I'm less than 40 miles away and am considering contacting the seller to see if I can examine the kit in person.

I've also attached a picture of my BR tribute bass drum head that sits in my drum room. It's a 22" and would look great on the bass drum!

Will let you know if I see the kit.

Checked out the BR 80N kit last night! Very nice! A few things to nit pick, but for 47 years old, it's a really nice kit! I was there, along with my girlfriend, for about 1.5 hours and really went over the kit. The seller, Dan, was great and had no issues with me pulling heads to check bearing edges and everything else that we vintage drum nuts feel compelled to check! After a brief negotiation, I left a small deposit and will pick the kit up this Saturday. I'm really excited to set the kit up in my drum room! My BR tribute bass drum head will be installed!
